CAIRNGORMS LOCAL OUTDOOR ACCESS FORUM Paper Six – Dates and key topics for LOAF meetings 2007 31 October 2006 CAIRNGORMS LOCAL OUTDOOR ACCESS FORUM Title: Dates and key topics for LOAF meetings 2007 Prepared by: Fran Pothecary, Outdoor Access Officer Purpose To bring before the Forum a timetable of meeting dates, locations and key topics for the Forum in 2007 Recommendations The Forum is invited to: a) agree the timetable for the meetings next year c) suggest other key topics for discussion at the meetings, and b) suggest ideas for site visits or learning opportunities for the afternoon slots during the summer months Issues 1. The attached timetable (see Paper Six Annex 1) is in draft form but seeks to achieve two main objectives. Firstly, to ensure that there are five Forum meetings a year, one of which will be an annual gathering, spaced out throughout that year. Secondly, to ensure that the Forum meets in a range of locations throughout the Park, but with the main aim of encouraging as full attendance of Forum members and maximum accessibility for the public as possible. 2. Forum meetings are best held at a set time of the day and little variance from this is recommended. The exceptions being winter time meets when a preference has been expressed for earlier meeting times, and the annual gathering which could encompass a combined afternoon and evening slot. 3. There are some key topics already identified which will be the focus on forum meeting – notably the 2 yearly review of the Forum at the March 2007 meeting; and the final draft of the Core Path Plan, prior to its submission to the CNPA Board, in November 2007. However other ideas for key topics are invited. 4. There has been a successful programme of site visits and learning experiences for Forum members during the past 18 months and it is intended to continue these outwith the winter months. Again, ideas for these half day informal meetings are invited. Fran Pothecary Outdoor Access Officer Email: franpothecary@cairngorms.co.uk
